Dialogic v1.5 – What’s New

Dialogic v1.5 includes new features designed to enhance your teaching experience and boost student engagement. Below is a breakdown of the key improvements in this release:

1. New, cleaner, and more intuitive chat interface

The chat interface has been redesigned to provide a more modern, intuitive, and user-friendly experience for both teachers and students. Expect a cleaner layout and smoother interactions that make scenario-based learning more engaging.

2. Text-to-Speech (TTS) support

Dialogic now supports Google TTS (Text-to-Speech), allowing your students to hear conversations in multiple languages, making learning more dynamic and interactive.

The following languages are supported:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Portuguese
  • Chinese
  • Arabic
  • Russian

For highly realistic text-to-speech, you can also use Google TTS (this requires an API key, though Google gives users 1,000,000 characters / month free—that’s almost 1500 conversations!).

3. Speech-to-Text (STT) for oral practice

Dialogic now offers Speech-to-Text (STT) functionality, allowing students to practice oral skills by speaking their responses directly into the app. This feature gives learners more opportunities to enhance their speaking proficiency in real-time.

4. Google Drive integration for shared work

Teachers can now have shared student conversations automatically sent to Google Drive. This new feature helps streamline assessment by storing student dialogues in one convenient place. Conversations are formatted into Google Docs with proper structure, ready for evaluation or record-keeping.
